FLW's Wigan Athletic fan pundit believes the club should pursue a deal for the outgoing striker

Wigan Athletic have been given the green light to sign ex-Wrexham forward Sam Dalby this summer.
The 25-year-old netted 15 goals in 32 starts whilst on loan at Dundee United in the Scottish Premiership, and despite Wrexham offering Dalby a contract extension following the expiration of his deal at the Racecourse Ground, the striker has opted to explore his options elsewhere.
According to the Daily Record, Ryan Lowe’s side are interested in acquiring Dalby’s services this summer, in their bid to add further firepower up front.
FLW’s Wigan Athletic fan pundit, Corey Bissell, couldn’t be more in favour of bringing Dalby to the club in the upcoming transfer window.
"Sam Dalby is nailed on for me," said Corey. "He should be coming through the door if we can make that happen in the off-season.
"I’ve been looking at players that are approaching the end of their contracts, players that we could realistically get in, and Sam Dalby, for me, is right up there on the list of players that we should be looking to get in the summer.
"Wigan have been linked to the likes of Niall Ennis and Ronan Hale, and they're great options who I would still be in for. But the one thing that pretty much every striker that we've been linked to so far has lacked is physicality, and Dalby is six-foot-three. He would majorly contribute to our physicality.
"He's a great option to have. In the past, we've had people like Charlie Wyke and Josh Magennis, and they've been a physical sort of archetype, but they've not really had the legs to go with it. They've always really lacked in other aspects, whether that be their fault or not.
"Dalby, for me, is the perfect sort of signing. He had a really good season for Dundee United, he’s on a hot streak and offers that physicality we need, so it's a no-brainer for me."
Following on from his flying form with Dundee United, it seems like a no-brainer for any club in the lower divisions of the EFL to try and pursue a deal for Dalby.
Although his time with Wrexham wasn’t anything to write home about, the forward’s recent time in Scotland will have put him on the radar of multiple League One clubs this summer, including Wigan.
Lowe clearly believes he can harness Dalby’s obvious talent and use him to lead the line at Wigan, and if a deal is on the table, should be on the Latics should pursue intensely.
Arriving back in English football with a point to prove, for a team hungry to fight back up towards the top of the third-tier, Dalby could set the division ablaze next term.
