Liverpool’s first-choice right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold is currently not available for selection due to injury.

With that being the case, Neco Williams started for Liverpool against Atalanta last night. Williams ended up playing the entire 90 minutes of the match.

Williams’ WhoScored player rating come the end of the match was 6.19. The aforementioned statistic highlights that youngster player reasonably well.

But, the Welshman did not impress everyone. After the match, Twitter user @LFCLaurie said that Williams is not ready to play in the Champions League.

Some Liverpool supporters responded to the aforementioned tweet and defended Williams.

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

Liverpool’s defence has been hit hard with injuries this season. As things stand, Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Alexander-Arnold are all out injured.

With that being the case, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp can’t afford to let Williams go.

Besides, we agree with the aforementioned responses. Williams did not play poorly against Atalanta, and that can be backed up by his player rating for the match.

Williams is only 19 years of age, so playing Champions League football for Liverpool at a young age will help him develop.
