Alan Shearer was full of praise for Cole Palmer following his performance against Newcastle on Sunday and said he looks like he’s “playing in the park with his pals.”

Having had a quiet game against Liverpool at Anfield Palmer was back to his brilliant best as the Blues ground out a hard fought 2-1 win against the Magpies.

It continued Chelsea’s great start to life under Enzo Maresca and the Blues now sit fifth, just one point behind Arsenal in third.

Shearer full of praise for Palmer

Palmer was at his influential best and was involved in both Chelsea goals as he played an unbelievable pass in the build up to Nicolas Jackson’s opener, before firing home the winner early in the second half.

The pass was that good Jamie Carragher described it as one of the best he’s ever seen in the Premier League, which is quite some praise.

Palmer has continued where he finished last season and already has seven goals and five assists in the first nine games and looks like he could match or even better what he achieved in the last campaign.

Newcastle legend Shearer was full of praise for Palmer and described him as the difference, whilst also praising his incredible pass.

“Well I mean, Palmer the difference isn’t he? Pass was like sublime. It was like to put it on a plate,” he told The Rest Is Football.

“Neto did incredibly well to get past Fabian Schar, and then he just put it on a plate for Jackson in the middle.

“I mean, terrible defending from Newcastle, [they] open them up with ease. But I mean, how many times are we going to see it?

“He (Palmer) just looks like he’s just playing in the park with his pals, he’s just an incredible player.

“Yeah, he got his goal as well, which again, you look at defensively from Newcastle, but he’s just a super talent isn’t he?”

Palmer just makes everything look so easy on the pitch and whilst teams are paying more attention to him by doubling up on him this season he’s still finding a way to influence games, and is very much still Chelsea’s main man.
