Pep Guardiola has praised Jeremy Doku’s superb cameo performances off the bench in the past week.

The Belgian played a big part in City’s equaliser against Real Madrid in midweek and he was excellent again in the FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea, tormenting their left-sided defenders with his electric pace and box-of-tricks skills.

Guardiola says the young winger can get even better and has been delighted with the impact he has had, particularly in the past week.

“He had an incredible action with Moises Caicedo and the impact from Jeremy against Real Madrid was unbelievable, too,” said Pep.

“When he arrived against West Ham, he was in top level.

“Always when he came from the bench, but his impact was not good.

“We talked about that. He changed the game. He is an incredible, exceptional player.

“Close to the box, he is unbelievable, but he has to improve.”

Guardiola also revealed that his players will now take a deserved rest until Tuesday when preparations will begin for two difficult away fixtures.

The Blues travel to Brighton on Thursday to take on a Seagulls side who have lost only two of their 15 Premier League home games this season.

Then City face Nottingham Forest at the City Ground next Sunday, with Nuno Espirito Santos’ side desperate for points near the foot of the table.

“We will be in the fridge after tomorrow,” said the boss.

“Don’t see each other. Nothing special. We have two days to prepare for Brighton and Nottingham Forest.

“One game at a time. Rest for two days.”
