It has been reported that Liverpool forward Divock Origi could depart the club this summer.

Origi struggled last season. The Belgian only scored one goal and registered two assists in 17 appearances for the Reds.

However, Liverpool Football Club announced yesterday that Origi is “launching a new scholarship in partnership with the University of Liverpool”.

With that being the case, some Liverpool supporters have taken to Twitter to react to the news.

The aforementioned fans believe that Origi is a good chance to remain at Anfield for another season because of the education scheme that he is launching with the University of Liverpool.

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

Only time will tell where Origi’s future lies. It is impossible for us to say what is happening behind the scenes.

Origi has been a decent player for Liverpool. The 26-year-old has found the back of the net 35 times in 157 appearances for the Reds.

The aforementioned figures highlight that he is capable of scoring the odd goal. However, we could understand if Origi wanted a move away from Anfield.

The reality is, he only made 17 appearances for Liverpool last season. If Origi wants to play regular senior football, he will need to depart Liverpool.

Origi has the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota ahead of him in the pecking order.

If Origi just wants to be a squad player, then Anfield is the place for him.
