France 2018 World Cup winner Paul Pogba (31) is now officially able to resume his career in football after his doping ban was reduced from four years to just 18 months. He is, however, currently without a club after opting to part ways by mutual consent with Juventus after the reduction of his ban. Didier Deschamps was speaking today after he announced his 24-man France squad to face Croatia in the quarter-finals of the Nations League at the end of March. There would certainly be no Paul Pogba on the squad list, but Deschamps told journalists that he feels Pogba can make a comeback to the very highest level, potentially leaving the door open to a France return.“He is supposed to be able to play again,” said Deschamps at the French Football Federation headquarters on Thursday afternoon. “We’re having exchanges and I won’t tell you the details of that,” a tight-lipped Deschamps teasingly revealed to journalists.“He has the ability and the mentality to return to the highest level. It won’t happen at the snap of a finger, but for the moment he hasn’t made a decision on his future club. We’ll see,” finished the former Olympique de Marseille manager – one of the clubs that are interested in signing the player if he is still available in the summer.GFFN | George Boxall
