Levi Colwill has spoken to the media today about his young teammates Mykhailo Mudryk.
The winger finally got his first goal for Chelsea, 9 months after arriving, and the relief for him and his teammates was palpable.
Footage showed many of them celebrating wildly when the ball hit the net, including Colwill.
His words on his teammate show just how much the whole team want the youngster to succeed:
“He’s a great player. He can be one of the best in the world. He’s got everything you want as a winger and as a player. It’s tough coming in from Ukraine to Chelsea. There’s a lot of pressure that he may not have experienced, a different culture and other things together,” Colwill raved in quotes picked up by the Evening Standard.
“It was always going to be tough to hit the ground running but in the first half he was amazing. I’m so happy for him, you could see in the celebrations. He deserved that. Everyone can see the qualities he has and we see it all the time in training.
“He’s such a good player and to come here and bring it in the first half was amazing. Now it’s about kicking on from here and, hopefully, he can build on it and become a great player.”
So far we’ve still seen a lot more bad than good from Mudryk – but his immense speed means that we can also see the potential that Colwill talks about.
He’s quite far behind in his development, but that just means there’s plenty more potential to unlock. The fact that his teammates rate him so highly can only be a good thing, and now he’s established himself as a regular in Mauricio Pochettino’s starting XI, we expect him to go from strength to strength.
