Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef has heaped praise on one of the club’s prominent players for the attitude he has shown so far this season, in contrast to the previous campaign.

Amakhosi kickstarted their 2025/26 PSL season on a high as they secured three league wins on the trot. The last time the Soweto giants achieved this feat; they went all the way to lift the league title back in the 2014/15 term under Stuart Baxter.

Despite missing head coach Nasreddine Nabi in the dugout, Chiefs are currently in second place on the Betway Premiership standings, level on points with log leaders Sekhukhune United, who have a superior goal difference.

With spirits at an all-time high at Naturena, Ben Youssef reserved special praise for playmaker Gaston Sirino, whom he believes has displayed a much better attitude this season. The Uruguayan had been under scrutiny for showing too many emotions on the field in the last campaign.

Interestingly, Sirino, who signed for Chiefs on a free transfer from Mamelodi Sundowns at the beginning of last season, scored a stunner that granted the Glamour Boys a third consecutive victory at the expense of Richards Bay on Tuesday.

“I think Sirino came back with a very good attitude when we came back this season and very good performances. And we also discussed with him about his idea and what he thinks about this season,” said Ben Youssef.

“He is so excited for this season, he wants to perform to help the team. I have to congratulate him as well as the other players for their attitude and how they perform in training.

Chiefs will be keen to maintain their momentum and flawless record when they lock horns with Sundowns in their next league outing at the FNB Satdium on Wednesday, 27 August. Nabi is expected to lead the team on the day.
