‘He became jealous’ – Neymar admits Kylian Mbappé changed after Leo Messi’s arrival at PSG | OneFootball

Former Barcelona star Neymar Jr. has late this week provided a fascinating insight into his time spent with current Real Madrid frontman Kylian Mbappé at Paris Saint-Germain.

Neymar and Mbappé, of course, joined forces to create one of the most fearsome attacking duos in all of Europe between 2017 and 2023.

Across their six years spent together, the pair racked up five league titles, three French cups, and a runners-up medal in the Champions League.

And yet, throughout this time, media speculation was rampant regarding alleged issues between the Brazilian and French.

Speaking during an interview with fellow countryman Romário (as cited by Fabrizio Romano) this week, the subject of his relationship with Mbappé was therefore put to Neymar himself.

And the Al-Hilal man went on to admit that, following the arrival of Lionel Messi in Paris in the summer of 2021, he saw a change in Mbappé’s behaviour:

“Mbappé was not annoying! When Messi came, I think he became a little jealous… I had my things with him, we had a little fight. He was a boy that in the beginning was key, I used to call him ‘Golden Boy’, I spoke to him, played around with him, told him he’d be one of the best, I always help, always had conversations with him. When Leo arrived, he became a little jealous. He didn’t want to share me with anyone! [laughs] That’s how the fights started, the change in behaviour.”
