Kai Havertz has become a fan favourite in recent times with his fine form, and he has done his standing with the Gunners faithful no harm by saying it would âit would mean a lot moreâ to win the Champions League with Arsenal than it did with Chelsea.
The German forward scored the only goal in the Blues in their 1-0 final win against Manchester City in 2021, but it is clear where his heart lies now.
Speaking to the clubâs official website ahead of tonightâs clash with PSG at the Emirates Stadium, he said:Â âIt was a good moment for me in my career and something that Iâm always going to think about. Itâs a nice feeling but it would be even nicer if I can do it with Arsenal and it would mean a lot more.â
Last season marked the North London clubâs first campaign in the Champions League since 2016/17, and Havertz believes the experience will stand to them this time around.
âWe know now how tough it is to go far in that competition from last year. Especially last year, away in Germany it wasnât our best game but I think we grew up and we are one year older now, so I hope weâre going to have a great competition. Itâs a long way but I think weâre all ready for it.
âIf players ask me about it I tell them, but I think itâs just something new now. We have lots of players already that have played in the competition and now itâs a new competition with more games. I help where I can but it was three or four years ago that I won it, so a long time ago, so I think I have to prove myself again in the dressing room.â
Despite winning 13 league titles and a record 14 FA Cups, Arsenal have yet to win club footballâs biggest competition, while Chelsea have won it twice.
Could he and fellow ex-Blue Jorginho help them to glory this season?
