Head coach Dino Toppmöller, Kevin Trapp and Omar Marmoush come out fighting as they assess the first defeat of the season at Wolfsburg.
Head coach Dino Toppmöller: “I think we would’ve deserved a bit more. It was a decent away performance and we had the clearer chances in the first half. Casteels made two excellent saves. We also had chances to equalise. It obviously wasn’t easy in the last half-hour a man down against a good footballing team, and then you lose the game. Wolfsburg played very well, though. They’re very disciplined and compact and don’t give you many chances. We found answers to the aggressive pressing but we have to take the chances.”
Kevin Trapp: “The first half was okay. We had two chances which Casteels saved well. One of them could easily have gone in and then it would’ve been a different game. It became more difficult to come back with 10 men. Wolfsburg are technically very good, can move the ball around and we had to do a lot of running. We know we’re not scoring enough goals but we’re not conceding many either. We’re working on making things click. Of course the confidence isn’t at the highest after games without a win, but we’re anything but worried.”
Omar Marmoush: “Unfortunately we’ve come away without points for the first time. We did well for a long time, had a few chances, it was a 50:50 contest. Particularly before half-time, we had two or three opportunities. But that’s football. We’ll cross it off and keep going. I’m working hard every day in order to help the team.”
