The FA Cup's trialling of semi-automated offsides in ties is off to a worrying start.

Bournemouth thought they had scored a second goal in the space of five first-half minutes of Saturday's fifth round clash with Premier League counterparts Wolves.

VAR, however, had other ideas.

Technology scrutinised the incident which saw Dean Huijsen and Milos Kerkez scrambling to turn the ball home but it took an unusually long time to determine.

More than seven minutes elapsed between the goal being sent to VAR and the eventual decision coming back, which had to be done with lines drawn on replays.

It may even go down as the longest-ever check for a goal in English football history.

No wonder both sets of fans at the Vitality Stadium were chanting "it's not football anymore"
