Southampton have been hit with a double injury blow ahead of the club’s clash with Liverpool on Tuesday.
Manager Ralph Hasenhüttl confirmed midfielder Stuart Armstrong and goalkeeper Fraser Forster did not participate in training this week.
“[Liverpool] have a few problems but we also have a few problems,” he said. “Stu Armstrong and Fraser Forster didn’t train in the week.
“They started yesterday; we will look how far they are. They could be available for the weekend.
“Both have back problems and joint problems, knee problems.
“A little bit from everything, a little bit sore and hopefully they will be ready for Tuesday.”
The news is especially significant for Jürgen Klopp’s side as Liverpool sit four points off Manchester City in the title race with two matches to go.
