Yui Hasegawa has been nominated for January's Barclays Women's Super League Player of the Month award.

The Japanese international was once again a key cog in the City machine across the month against both West Ham United and Aston Villa.

She was awarded player of the match by the WSL in our hard-fought 1-0 win at the Hammers to kick-off 2023, and followed that up with another accomplished display in the middle of the park against the Villans.

Indeed, against Carla Ward's side, her tenacity and anticipation off the ball proved equally important for Gareth Taylor's side in an evenly-contested encounter, while her passing accuracy stood at an impressive 92%.

In this particular metric, Hasegawa's success rate of 88.7% is higher than any other midfielder in the WSL.

Yui faces stiff competition for the award, with Manchester United duo Ona Batlle and Hayley Ladd, Everton pair Gabby George and Jess Park (on loan at the Toffees from City), Villa's Kirsty Hanson and Kenza Dali as well as Reading's Justine Vanhaevermaet all shortlisted.
