Bayern Munich suffered their biggest-ever defeat in the DFB-Pokal on Wednesday as they were on the wrong end of a 5-0 rout against Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Bayern conceded every goal within the first hour of play and Bayern sports director Hasan Salihamidžić was noticeably upset following the unfortunate result.

“I’m absolutely shocked. We simply didn’t turn up,” Salihamidžić told ARD.

“We let ourselves be outplayed in every situation – a collective blackout.”

Naturally, Gladbach sports director Max Eberl was beside himself after Gladbach’s historic victory.

“From time to time, you dream of something like this, but you don’t believe it will become reality.

“That was an awesome performance.”

It was the second time in a row that Bayern were dumped out of the DFB-Pokal in the second round after suffering a shootout defeat last season against Holstein Kiel.
