Sheffield Wednesday boss Darren Moore has been linked with a return to West Bromwich Albion.

With Baggies boss Carlos Corberan emerging as a reported target for Leeds United, the Daily Mail has claimed that Moore will be at the front of the Championship club’s thinking if a replacement is needed.

But should Wednesday be worried about losing him?

Our FLW writers issue their verdicts…

There’s a fair bit that’s got to fall into place for this to happen, so Wednesday can probably ease any fears just now.

Obviously that can change quickly, but there’s plenty to believe in at Hillsborough and that should give Wednesday confidence.

Firstly, my gut feeling is that Leeds look elsewhere when it comes to replacing Jesse Marsch. Corberan is a good coach but lacks top-flight experience that the Whites need. That’s essentially, the first domino that needs to fall and it’s not a certainty.

Additionally, Moore is onto something good with Wednesday, isn’t he? He has them building back towards the Championship and the level West Brom are currently at.

Moore has an affiliation with the Baggies, of course, but he seems like an individual that will want to see things out with the Owls.

There needs to be some pre-planning in case the worst happens, however unlikely it feels.

Darren Moore is the current manager?

True False

Ned Holmes

I’m not sure they should be too worried just yet.

A few dominoes have to fall before it’s an issue that they should take seriously and you wonder whether either party would really seek the reunion.

Darren Moore was harshly dealt with last time and looks on the cusp of taking Sheffield Wednesday back to the Championship so he may feel he’s best suited to staying put at Hillsborough.

There’s no doubt that he’s done a good job at Wednesday but is Moore really going to Albion’s top target to replace Corberan? I’m not so sure.

As much as I like Moore, and I really do, I think they might look to be a little more ambitious than that.

Billy Mulley

There has to be an element of fear attached to West Brom potentially chasing Darren Moore if Carlos Corberan takes the Leeds United job.

West Brom are flying high and have all the foundations in place to continue battling for promotion back to the Premier League and the project is an exciting one.

However, he is so far down the line on this current project at Hillsborough and he is doing a terrific job, whilst he has created an excellent club culture.

Not only do they lead the way in League One, there is also scope for the Owls to kick on next season and build on what has been an excellent 22/23 campaign.

It would be a huge blow for the Owls and I hope it is not me being naive but I cannot see Moore taking charge at West Brom if Corberan departs, however, the worry is present.
