Harvey Elliott suffered a serious injury in Liverpool's Premier League match against Leeds on the weekend.

The English youngster fell to the ground in agony after a challenge by Pascal Struijk.

The Leeds defender was given a red card while Elliott was stretchered off the pitch and taken to hospital.

Elliott has since undergone surgery after suffering a dislocated ankle and will be out for many months.

There has been a debate about whether Struijk deserved the sending off, though.

Struijk didn't think his red card was justified and Leeds didn't feel he deserved it either.

They appealed to the FA in the hope that they will overturn the decision.

However, on Wednesday morning, it was confirmed that the appeal had been unsuccessful.

That means that Struijk will now serve a three-match ban.

Elliott, despite being on the other end of the challenge, is not happy with The FA's decision.

The Liverpool youngster has made his feelings very clear in a message on Instagram, where he has thrown his support behind the Leeds man.

Writing on Sky Sports' post, he said: "Sorry about this Pascal.

“I think it’s wrong! But it’ll soon blow over brother and you’ll be back in no time smashing it again. Keep positive.”

What a classy player.

Elliott is just 18 years old but he has maturity beyond his years.

He's really impressed during his spell at Liverpool and he's also conducting himself well off it.

Elliott's message comes just days after Struijk apologised for the challenge.
