Liverpool sent an ominous message to the Premier League with a dominant victory over Leeds on Sunday afternoon.

From start to finish Jurgen Klopp's side were a class above, registering 30 attempts as the front three ran riot at Elland Road.

The likes of Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota and Sadio Mane simply thrived in all the space they were afforded while Thiago announced his arrival on the new season with a superb performance.

It was Salah who would draw first blood, tapping in after a Joel Matip sojourn up field played Trent Alexander-Arnold into acres of space.

A glut of chances came and went before Fabinho made the hosts pay for some apologetic defending from a corner, lashing home at the second time of asking from close range.

Mane would pop the cherry on the goalscoring cake late on after being set up by a marauding Thiago to swivel and smash home.

The reaction of players from both sides in the immediate aftermath said everything you need it to about the severity of the incident, with Salah looking particularly rattled.

The Egyptian flyer was seen screaming for medical attention to make its way onto the field to get to Elliott before turning away and covering his head in his shirt.

They were awful scenes, especially considering just how good Elliott has been this season.

While the full extent of the injury is yet to be confirmed, a visibly shaken Jurgen Klopp confirmed it was a 'bad injury' in a post-match interview.

Unsurprisingly, countless messages of support flooded in for young Elliott, who could be set for a substantial spell not he sidelines.

One message in particular caught the eye, with Manchester United star Marcus Rashford once again showing his class.

Rashford set club loyalties aside as he sent support Elliott's way.

'Ahhhh man rivalry aside that looks really nasty, no one wants to see that, thoughts are with you Harvey @LFC', wrote Rashford.

Classy stuff.

We can only hope that the injury isn't as bad as initially feared and Elliott can get back to doing what he does best sooner rather than later.

For Klopp and Liverpool, they will have to do without their young star as they look to bounce back for the difficulties of last season.
