Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has been voted the Premier League Player of the Month for November after producing several solid performances.

The 30-year-old helped his side keep three clean sheets in their three matches in November as they came through unscathed after fixtures against Fulham, Luton Town and Everton.

Maguire was imperious in United’s 1-0 win over Fulham early last month, winning ten of his 13 duels against the Cottagers.

He completed 82% of his passes, six out of 12 long balls, blocked two shots and made nine clearances.

Maguire has been rebuilding his reputation as a respectable centre-half in recent weeks after receiving widespread criticism over his form for months.

He has displaced Raphael Varane in the starting XI, partnering Jonny Evans in the centre of defence.

Maguire carried his scintillating form into United’s match against Luton. He won four of his eight duels while completing 90% of his passes and nine out of 13 long balls.

The Sheffield-born defender helped United keep an important clean sheet against Everton. He made timely interventions to prevent the Toffees from getting back into the game.

United did all the scoring in the 3-0 win but had their backs against the ropes for most of the game as the Merseyside club poured forward with intent.

Maguire defended admirably and led his defensive line to a confidence-boosting victory.

His sensational upturn in form has been one of the most remarkable turnarounds this season and challenges the excessive vitriol that came his way over the past months.

When United were doing well last season, he received relentless criticism for his performances. United are currently under par, but Maguire is one of the few players who can hold his head high.

United manager Erik ten Hag, who wanted to sell Maguire last summer, will hope other squad members can use the defender as a reference point to turn their situation around.
