Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that Harry Maguire will not play again for Manchester United in the Premier League this season.

However, the Norwegian remains confident that his captain will be back fit to make the Europa League final with Villarreal on May 26 as well as the European Championships for England this summer.

The 28-year-old had to be taken off during the 3-1 win over Aston Villa on Sunday with an ankle injury and missed the defeat to his former club Leicester City on Tuesday night.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Solskjaer said: “The good news is it wasn’t broken,

“There was no fracture, but a ligament injury.

“I don’t think he’ll play again in the league again (before the end of the season).

“We’ll do everything we can to get him ready for the final. I’m hopeful that he might be ready for it.

“You always try to look after the players long term. If he’s ready for us, he’ll probably be ready for the Euros.”

The 28-year-old had featured in every Premier League for Manchester United before the meeting with Leicester.
