Manchester United centre-back Harry Maguire has claimed that Coventry City have gone on an FA Cup run they can be proud of, taking to X after the game.

These comments came after the Sky Blues' loss against the Red Devils on penalties in the semi-final yesterday.

United went 3-0 up before the hour mark and with this in mind, Coventry did a remarkable job to pull it back to 3-3 before the final whistle, with goals from Ellis Simms, Callum O'Hare and Haji Wright taking the game to extra time.

Wright did brilliantly to keep his cool from the penalty spot in the 95th minute - and the Sky Blues had more chances in extra time to win it - with Mark Robins' side even having a goal disallowed.

But it was United who won it in the end, winning 4-2 in the penalty shootout and booking their place in the FA Cup final, sparing Erik ten Hag's blushes.

Ten Hag is still under a huge amount of pressure following the Red Devils' capitulation late on in the game, as well as a very decent chunk of the United team.

Coventry, on the other hand, can be extremely proud of the fact they beat Wolverhampton Wanderers to get into this position and have given ten Hag's side a fright.

One United man who came out with some credit, despite conceding three goals, is Maguire, who was one of the Premier League giants' better players on the day.

Getting himself on the scoresheet and seeing his team go 3-0 up through Bruno Fernandes, he wouldn't have expected Coventry to come back in the way they did.

But his team prevailed in the end - and he will now be looking forward to competing for another trophy.

However, that didn't prevent him from giving yesterday's opponents a huge amount of credit.

Taking to X following this entertaining game, he posted: "Job done - a final to look forward to. Credit to Coventry City, a cup run to be proud of."

It's heartening to see Coventry get the praise they richly deserve - because they put on a remarkable show and should be credited for showing a huge amount of character.

It's also heartening to see Maguire get praise from United supporters - because he hasn't enjoyed the best time at Old Trafford but did extremely well yesterday.

Not only did he do well on the pitch, but he also showed real class at the end, going over to Coventry's players during the penalty shootout and consoling them instead of celebrating straight away.

This wasn't exactly a victory to celebrate considering how they had capitulated, but he showed much more class than Antony and can be extremely proud of the way he conducted himself.

Although the Sky Blues and their supporters will be hurting at the moment, quite understandably, they will look back at yesterday and appreciate the way Maguire conducted himself after such a close game.
