Harry Kane will hunt down Gerd Müller’s record in the Euro 2024 final | OneFootball

On Sunday evening, England captain Harry Kane will lead the Three Lions out to their second consecutive European Championship final, where they face Spain at the Olympiastadion in Berlin.

However, while the Bayern Munich striker will be looking to avenge their defeat at Wembley Stadium at Euro 2020, he will also be hunting down another impressive record.

Former Germany legend Gerd Müller currently holds the record as the only player to finish as the top scorer at a World Cup and a European Championship.

As it stands, Kane is level with five other players on three goals at the tournament. But the Bayern striker faces competition from RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo, who is currently the only other player tied with him who is active at the tournament.

Therefore, Kane will need to outscore the Spaniard in order to equal Müller’s record, as well as Fabián Ruiz, who has registered two goals at the tournament.

Nevertheless, Kane will undoubtedly place winning Euro 2024 ahead of any individual accolade, with England looking to lift their first piece of silverware since 1966.
