Harry Kane will sign a new contract only if Tottenham include a release clause

According to Eurosport, Harry Kane could sign a new contract with Tottenham only if a release clause is included. Kane rejected an initial offer from Spurs during the Euros but now that he wants to stay, a new deal might be on the cards. However, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will have to make an exception by putting in a release clause.

Tottenham’s summer was dominated by the whole Harry Kane saga. After all, the striker dropped a bombshell when he asked to leave the club. However, it was not going to be that simple as he had a contract for three more years. Manchester City came ahead with a host of offers but none met the valuation set by Daniel Levy.

While the move might not have taken place, City were actually keen on offering him a lucrative contract of £500,000-a-week. Since then, Kane has kept the dialogue open with Spurs over a new deal. There might still be a chance that Kane’s future is the subject of debate next season unless a new deal is signed.

However, Kane will only put pen to paper if there is a release clause inserted into the new deal. Spurs are not known to do that for players but there is the belief that an exception might be made for Kane. A lot will depend on if a common price point is found. Spurs and Levy know they still hold the aces and any move will be very calculated.

The new contract might sound appealing but there is still a huge risk factor with release clauses. Any potential buyer might just stump up the cash and Spurs would be powerless to stop Kane from leaving. In the event that everything works out, one can assume that a potential release clause will be significantly high.
