Tottenham Hotspur centre-forward Harry Kane is ‘very interested’ in signing for Real Madrid this summer, according to reports.

The England international’s contract with Spurs is set to expire in 2024. As a result, he is likely to be sold unless he signs an extension.

Manchester United have been heavily linked with a move for Kane for months now. But, if the latest reports are correct, it seems they have become his second-choice destination.

This is according to reputed journalist Rudy Galetti, who claims Kane is leaning towards signing for Real Madrid this summer.

On Twitter, Galetti wrote: “Real Madrid are working to replace Karim Benzema.

“To date, the main target remains Harry Kane: talks ongoing between the player and the club. The Tottenham striker – whose contract expires in 2024 – likes the destination.”

Indeed, Karim Benzema announced on Wednesday that he has signed for Saudi club Al Ittihad. Now, Carlo Ancelotti is on the hunt for a replacement.

Benzema will have tough boots to fill, though. After signing for Real Madrid way back in 2009, the striker made 648 appearances, scoring an incredible 354 goals.

In the process, he helped his team to lift an incredible 24 major trophies, including five Champions Leagues. He was also awarded the Ballon d’Or last year.

But, Kane has still never won a major trophy, despite his incredible goal scoring record. So, a move to Real Madrid could be exactly what he needs.

This season, Kane continued his typically prolific form – netting 30 goals in 38 Premier League appearances.

And yet, Tottenham still finished in a disappointing eighth place in the table – missing out on European football for the first time since 2009.

Now, new manager Ange Postecoglou is charged with turning Spurs’ fortunes around. However, he may have to do it without the club’s all-time top goal scorer.

But, Kane will not come cheap. Indeed, Daniel Levy will reportedly demand a fee in the region of £100m for the 29-year-old. So, Real Madrid will have to put their money where their mouth is to get a deal over the line.

Madrid have already splashed out £88.5m on a new addition this summer.

Borussia Dortmund Jude Bellingham is set to be playing for the Spanish giants next season after they beat the competition to his signature.

So, if Kane does sign for Madrid, we could see him playing alongside his England teammate at the Bernabeu, which is a mouth-watering prospect.

With that in mind, it will be interesting to see if Ancelotti’s team pay the £100m required to sign Kane this summer.
