Images have been revealed for the first time of a statue of England captain Harry Kane commissioned by the council in his hometown of Walthamstow.
According to the Big Issue magazine, the statue was sculpted five years ago but has been sitting in storage the whole time because Waltham Forest council in east London has been unable to find a suitable location for it.
The statue depicts Kane sitting on a bench in a football kit while holding a ball in place on his knee with his hand.
Local Conservative councillors reportedly tried to place the statue on Chingford’s Overground railway station, but that proposal was denied after a risk assessment carried about by Transport for London concluded that it could be targeted by rival football fans.
