Harry Kane names John Terry as the toughest Premier League defender he faced | OneFootball

Harry Kane has named John Terry as one of the two toughest central defenders he’s ever faced.

Their careers only crossed briefly, with Kane still young and raw and Terry by that point a grizzled veteran, but the Chelsea man was still able to teach the up and coming forward what old school defender was all about.

“Early on facing John Terry, [he was] just a really smart defender, knew where to put his body, knew how to stop my runs, so that was a great learning curve,” Kane said in quotes in the Sun today.

The Tottenham striker must have been having flashbacks when he played us last week, with Kalidou Koulibaly in the 26 shirt doing a very strong JT impression to shut down Kane in open play for most of the game.

Kane also notes that Giogio Chiellini was another veteran master who he had struggled against, noting that like Terry, the Italian was “smart, strong and physical.”

Kane can really say he’s been up against the very best.
