A longtime admirer of Lionel Messi and the Argentine national team dedicated his home to honoring the Albiceleste as they get ready to compete for the World Cup.
Shib Shankar Patra, who lives in Calcutta, watched Argentina in the 1986 World Cup in Mexico and fell in love immediately. They defeated West Germany 3-2 in a spectacular match which elevated Diego Maradona to glory as the architect of the title.
“For me, Messi is an extension of Maradona. Everyone in my family loves Messi. We love his behavior and everything about him,” Patra told AFP.
This Indian aficionado sells tea in a shop that is located on the ground floor of his house.
He had intended to travel to Russia to see the Argentine national team in person, but he could not save enough.
“I saved 60,000 rupees (€750), but it was not enough for the trip. I will have to watch Argentina’s matches on television,” he resigned.
Can somebody please send this fan to Russia?
