Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed Enzo Maresca’s involvement in one key transfer decision made in the January window.
Romano has been delivering all the Chelsea transfer news over the winter window as he does all the time, but it was a very quiet one for Chelsea even though he promised it would be busy!
Chelsea had a pretty quiet transfer window in the winter despite people like Romano and others telling us that it was going to be very busy! It was the opposite from busy in the end. Other than some dry loan deals done for players such as Ben Chilwell, who joined Crystal Palace on deadline day in the end, and Axel Disasi, who also went to another Premier League side in the shape of Champions League chasing Aston Villa, there really wasn’t much more than happened, especially in terms of new arrivals which the squad actually needed.
But there was other situations brewing up as well and Chelsea also did make one new signing with a 19-year-old unproven midfielder joining the ranks late on.
There was a situation with defender Aaron Anselmino as well, with a superb loan opportunity to Marseille popping up and looking like it would happen.
Aaron Anselmino signs for Chelsea!
And apparently Maresca was happy to have him stay at Chelsea.
Fabrizio Romano says via GIVEMESPORT:
‘Enzo Maresca was happy to keep Aaron Anselmino at the club to develop, improve and maybe leave in the summer for a season-long loan.’
Yes, I am sure he will be yet another young player signed by Chelsea who will be going out on loan at the end of the season so he can actually play football and Chelsea can hope he develops enough to not be so raw to be able to make a difference right now.
