Following their 2-4 win tonight against Osasuna, Real Madrid went ten points clear on top of the table.

They were then helped by Girona, who could not garner the three points to keep the difference down to seven against Madrid. The Catalan side lost 1-0 against Getafe, with Yellu Santiago on target for the Madrid outfit.

“Our goal is to qualify for the Champions League,” Girona coach Michel said following the loss, as quoted by SPORT.

Girona are still second in the table, though, but only by a point, with Barcelona third.

The Catalans will take on Atletico Madrid tomorrow though, in a tie that could realistically go either way right now.

Assuming Barcelona get all three points vs Atleti, they will go second in the table, eight points adrift of Madrid, with nine gameweeks to spare now.

In those nine games, Madrid have the easiest schedule of the top-three, with only one game against the top-four remaining. They can, therefore, extend their lead on top of the table, and win the league with multiple games to spare.

That one clash does happen to be El Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu, though.

However, even under the assumption that Barcelona and Girona can go toe-to-toe with Madrid till the end of the season, Carlo Ancelotti’s side can clinch the title with two games to spare.

Their third-last game of the season is against Deportivo Alaves, and a win there would clinch them La Liga.

That is with the prediction that the Clasico ends in a stalemate – which it will likely not.

Should Madrid come out victors against Barça in that game, though, they could go 11 points clear on top of the table, and could seal the trophy in gameweek 35 against Granada, away from home.

Both Barcelona and Girona had a couple of chances to take advantage of Madrid’s slip-ups, but eventually neither side could match Los Blancos‘ winning pedigree, and the end seems very much near now, ending in yet another trophy.
