Character, grit, and Interismo: In his ten years at Inter, Marco Materazzi served as a symbol and pillar for both teammates and fans, a leader on the pitch, and an inspiration through his example.

For a decade, Matrix guided Inter's defence with his unmistakable No.23 jersey. In total, Materazzi played 276 games in the Nerazzurri colours, scoring 20 goals, ten of them in the extraordinary 2006/7 season, when Marco led Inter to the Scudetto after winning the World Cup in Germany with the Azzurri. An unforgettable league, adding to 15 trophies Matrix lifted with Inter: 5 Scudetti, 4 Coppa Italia, 4 Supercoppa Italiana, 1 Champions League, 1 Club World Cup.

Honoured in the Club's Hall of Fame in 2021, Marco has always been a beloved player amongst Nerazzurri fans, who dedicated to him the famous chant "Tutti pazzi per Materazzi" (Everyone's crazy for Materazzi), which echoed around San Siro for years.

Born in Lecce on 19 August 1973, today, Matrix turns 52. FC Internazionale Milano and all the Nerazzurri fans wish him a very happy birthday.
