Barcelona kick-started their new season with a 3-0 win over RCD Mallorca at San Moix.

A regular bystander may find the victory and margin quite satisfying. However, for coach Hansi Flick, Barcelona were nowhere near good enough.

Speaking to the press after the game, Flick had already hinted that he was not happy with Barcelona’s performance, especially after how the Catalans became clumsy following the two red cards.

Flick was furious with Barcelona players

Now, SPORT reveals that Flick exploded in anger at his players in the dressing room. The German, in fact, was blunt in his assessment, stating that with this level, the team won’t even win La Liga.

Flick gave a crystal clear message to his players. He stated that Barcelona cannot rely solely on their names and technical quality.

The former Bayern Munich coach also demanded intensity, focus, and physical sharpness, stressing that without these, the team would be outclassed by Europe’s elite.

The coach even drew parallels with his Bayern Munich side after the historic sextuple, when the squad lost its hunger and collapsed the following season, winning only the Bundesliga.

In addition, Flick reminded everyone that the league can be decided in the first round, and it is, therefore, important for Barcelona to avoid becoming complacent and dropping unnecessary points.

Flick ready to make radical changes

In addition to showing anger, Flick reminded everyone that he won’t be shy about making radical changes if the situation doesn’t improve for Barcelona.

The German tactician has already shown that he is not afraid of making tough decisions, notably starting with Eric Garcia in the right-back position against Mallorca.

Despite his fury, though, Flick still believes in the group. He considers the squad capable of winning everything if they play at 100%.
