With their 0-3 win over Athletic Club at San Mames last night, FC Barcelona bade farewell to one of their more successful and memorable seasons in recent history.
The Blaugranes won the domestic treble this season, laying claim to the La Liga, Copa del Rey, and Spanish Super Cup titles, beating their arch-rivals in the race to all these competitions.
Thus, Hansi Flick’s first season in charge of the Catalan team has ended in a wonderful way. However, it is not only the trophies that the German coach can brag about, as his team was also one of the most entertaining sides in Europe this season.
This is clear from the fact that in 60 official matches, Barcelona scored 174 total goals. As Mundo Deportivo has noted, this tally brings Hansi Flick to the podium of the three best teams in the Blaugrana club’s history in terms of goals scored in a single season.
The only two times that a Barcelona team scored more goals than this were in the 2016-17 and the 2011-12 seasons. In the former, the team led by Luis Enrique had one more goal than Flick’s team, i.e., 175. In the latter, Tito Vilanova’s side scored 190 goals in all competitions, which remains the highest tally achieved by the Catalan team in its history.
The scoring average of 2.90 goals per game achieved by the Blaugrana team this season has been quite close to those achieved by these two other historical teams. Enrique’s team had a scoring average of 2.92, while Vilanova’s team had an average of 2.97 goals per game.

Of the 174 goals scored by Hansi Flick’s team this past season, 102 came in La Liga, 43 in the UEFA Champions League, 22 in the Copa del Rey, and 7 in the Spanish Super Cup.
Up to 19 players contributed to this tally, with Robert Lewandowski leading the scoring charts with his 42 goals, and Raphinha (34), Ferran Torres (19), and Lamine Yamal (18) following him.
However, one aspect in which the team had a rather poor season was the number of goals conceded, as the 72 goals conceded by Barcelona were the most conceded by the team in the last decade.
