Bayern became just the second club in history (Barcelona in 2009) to perform a clean sweep of all competitions as they defeated Liga MX giants Tigres 1-0 in Qatar on Wednesday.
Ben Pavard’s goal just before the hour-mark gave the Bavarians the wiggle room they needed to claim victory and their historic sixth title of the year.
After the match, Flick congratulated his side on their remarkable achievement.
“Congratulations to my team,” Flick said. “They have completed a historical feat, they have won six titles in one season.
“Even for the successful club that is FC Bayern München, this was the most successful season ever. The team played outstandingly.
“The win was never in danger, we dominated and deservedly won the final.
“It was very difficult for me as well, we were all at the limit, the same goes for me at the touchline. The match against Tigres was on eye-level, even though we dominated.
“They deserved to be in this final.”
With the victory, Flick has the unique honour of having won more trophies (six) than matches lost (five).
