Barcelona boss Hansi Flick expressed his satisfaction after watching his side deliver a dominant display against Como in the Joan Gamper Trophy.
Speaking after the game, Flick praised the team’s intensity but highlighted an area that still needs work.
“The way we played, the way we pressed, was very good, but we need to improve our defence and our pressure without the ball,” the German tactician explained.
He also spoke positively about the club’s summer signings. “We’re very happy with the new players; they’re on the right track, the team is growing,” Flick added, underlining his belief that the squad is developing well before the season begins.
The Barça coach also took a moment to thank Inigo Martinez, who bid farewell to the club on Friday before making his debut for Al Nassr.
“Last season he was a very important part of our success, but his departure will be an opportunity for other players to grow,” Flick said.

When asked about the possibility of signing another central defender, he kept the door slightly open: “I’ll talk to Deco when he’s here and we’ll see, but for the moment, I don’t think so.”
Flick also welcomed the resolution of the recent dispute between Barcelona and goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
“It was very important. It’s not easy to manage this situation because Marc was an important part of the club for the last ten years,” Flick noted.
The coach revealed the importance of securing Joan for the future, making it clear that this was an opportunity the club could not ignore.
“We had the opportunity to sign Joan for the future and we had to take advantage of it. I think it was important to resolve it before the Gamper match. Having good communication and talking is very important,” he concluded.
Barcelona now shift their full focus to the La Liga opener against Mallorca, aiming to carry their strong pre-season form into the first game of the new campaign.
