Over the last few years, there has been a trend of stars moving to Barcelona with high expectations that they couldn’t meet. Many players didn’t manage to click at the Catalan club, whether it’s Ousmane Dembele, Antoine Griezmann or even Philippe Coutinho.
Few players have had as high expectations and as much hype as Ansu Fati, who joined the club at the age of ten and turned professional back in 2019.
At 21 years of age, the youngster still has plenty of time to make his career at Barcelona work, but a lack of growth and a failed loan to Brighton certainly stack the odds against him.
As per Mundo Deportivo however, Hansi Flick still has faith in the young star to come good. After returning from injury with a cameo against Monaco in the Champions League, the German manager spoke about the impact he could have going forward.
‘We are going carefully with him, but what I have been able to see from his progress is that he is already at another level and that he can help us a lot,’ Flick said in his pre-Villarreal press conference.
He also added that he will need to give minutes to the youngster so that he can get back up to speed following his return, but it is definitely a make-or-break point in the youngster’s career.
