Hansi Flick singles Barcelona ‘leader’ out for special praise after Copa victory | OneFootball

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has moved to reveal his appreciation for defender Ronald Araújo.

This, of course, comes after an important evening for the Uruguayan on Saturday.

Barcelona marked their return to action last night, making the trip to minnows Barbastro for a Copa del Rey Last-32 clash.

The Blaugrana ultimately emerged on the right side of a dominant 4-0 result, owing to goals on the part of all of Eric García, Robert Lewandowski (2) and Pablo Torre.

And Araújo, for the first time all season, played his part.

After a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury, the 25-year-old was finally cleared to feature in a competitive setting, afforded a start at the heart of Barca’s backline.

And one individual who was overjoyed to have Araújo back at his disposal, unsurprisingly, was Hansi Flick.

Speaking to the media on the back of his side’s qualification for the Last-16 of the Copa, Flick explained:

“Ronald Araújo is a real leader. You can see his quality. It’s good to have him, he wakes us up a little more and can help a lot”.
