Hansi Flick has led his Barcelona team to a strong start in the 2024-25 season, with the German coach successfully bringing out the best in several of his players.

This is particularly the case with Robert Lewandowski, who is scoring goals at a very good rate and is on course to have his personal best season.

Similarly, Inigo Martinez has also shown a significantly higher level of quality over his last season at Barcelona, as he is one of the leaders of the team’s backline.

Another player who has significantly improved his end product under Flick is Lamine Yamal. Although he impressed last season, he has been even more clinical since the start of this season. The youngster has already scored five goals and provided five assists in eleven matches so far.

The €150m-rated Spaniard has been a key player for Flick up to now, as he has started all but one game this season, but still played 31 minutes in the match against Osasuna that he did not start.

However, his presence in the starting lineup for the upcoming game against Sevilla is not entirely guaranteed as he suffered discomfort while playing for Spain in the October international break.

As Mundo Deportivo has reported, Flick was asked whether Yamal would start in the upcoming game during his press conference ahead of the Sevilla match. While the German tactician refrained from giving a clear answer to this question, he did provide an update on Yamal’s recovery progress:

“The focus is on tomorrow’s game. We are taking it step by step. It’s an important match, and we’ll start with the best 11. That’s our plan. The treatments he’s received have gone well for his recovery. The coach’s decision to let him rest was a good one, and he’s ready.”

It would not be too surprising if Flick decides to give some more rest to the youngster, as Barcelona have two very difficult matches coming up against Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.

The German coach will be looking to have all his best players available in the best possible shape for these games, and thus can rest Yamal against Sevilla.
