Rumors involving FC Barcelona and the club’s various players are nothing new or out of the ordinary. Given the massive size and pedigree of the club, it is expected that a lot of news would be focused on them if certain things look out of place. Unfortunately, that can also bring the wrong kind of publicity that can be distracting for Barcelona.
Ahead of a huge Spanish Super Cup final, one that Barcelona have reached by defeating Athletic Club in the semi-final, there have been a lot of reports linking a certain defender away from the club. Despite being one of the club captains, he has been linked to a move to Juventus and other sides.
The player in question is none other than Ronald Araujo, and reports linking him to an exit have been gaining momentum since quite some time now. However, as per recent updates, Barcelona seem to have reportedly rejected the first advance that was made by the Serie A side.
Now, ahead of the upcoming final against Real Madrid, Hansi Flick has himself spoken about the player. In his official press conference, the Barcelona coach emphasized that Araujo’s return from his injury is great news for his team because he is a solid option for the team and is fully available:
“Araujo has returned from a serious injury and is now strong and ready to play. He’s a solid option for the defense and a true professional.”
In light of rumors suggesting that the player has lost importance and is frustrated with his lack of involvement, this may have been a great move from Flick himself. By ensuring that Araujo is indeed still a part of his considerations when it comes to big games, he may have just taken just the kind of initiative that even Araujo himself might appreciate.
However, irrespective of what happens in the future with the Uruguayan defender, he is expected to remain committed to the club in the present. Perhaps even more importantly, however, Hansi Flick needs to keep his Barcelona team focused for the upcoming El Clasico.
