After leading Bayern Munich to a treble last season, Hans-Dieter Flick has been one of the most impressive managers in European football.
When speaking to Welt Am Sonntag, Flick opened up on his personal managing tactics that help the club find such success.
“I’m relaxed before games,” said the 55-year-old when asked how he deals with pressure.
“Miro[salv] Klose told me before his first game as an assistant: ‘I’m more nervous than you are.'”
The German did not take all the credit, however, and emphasised the influence of his staff and players.
“It’s also because I have an incredible amount of trust in my team and my staff. I like to take a step to the side so my team can stand in the sun.”
With so many star players in the squad, treating everyone equally is also important.
“I’m a very appreciative person and want to treat everyone with the necessary respect, without any prejudice.”
“I like to form my own picture of people and situations. Everyone has their own peculiarities that you’ve to take seriously.”
Bayern currently sit top of the Bundesliga with 19 points, one ahead of rivals Borussia Dortmund.
