One of the youngsters who has impressed the Barcelona coaching staff the most and adapted best to the dynamics of the first team is Jofre Torrents.

The player from La Masia has been training with the senior squad since the very first day, 14 July. At no point has he stepped away from the routine under Hansi Flick.

Moreover, after returning from the Asian tour, he remained with the German coach, was included in the squad for Mallorca vs Barcelona, and made his official debut. He played more than 20 minutes, fulfilling a lifelong dream.

Flick fully backs Jofre Torrents

It now appears that Flick’s idea is for Torrents to remain with the first team for a prolonged spell.

Indeed, as per SPORT, out of the five Barça Atletic youngsters who have been with the senior team from the start – Toni Fernandez, Guille Fernandez, Pedro ‘Dro’ Fernandez, Roony Bardghji, and Jofre, he was the only one not released for the reserve team’s friendly vs Atletic Lleida.

Neither Bardghji nor Guille took part in today’s training with the first team at the Tito Vilanova pitch. Toni, Dro, and Jofre did participate, while Hector Fort did not.

Guille, Roony and Fort were absent in order to play that match with the remaining reserve players. Dro and Toni also ended up joining the reserve team squad for the friendly match.

The only one not called up was Jofre. The academy left-back already knew that he was going to be included in the squad list for the match against Levante.

The uncertainty surrounding Gerard Martin’s registration played a part in Flick’s decision. But at the same time, the 18-year-old has seemingly convinced the manager fully in a short period of time, with him likely to have a bigger role in the senior team than expected.

Torrents, who is now in his ninth season at the club, continues to live the dream and has no intention of wasting the opportunity. He is absorbing everything he can from the stars around him and is developing under Flick’s guidance.
