Even though it is yet to be officially confirmed, FC Barcelona appear set to appoint Hansi Flick as their new manager.

The Blaugrana still have to work out the departure of Xavi Hernandez, but things are progressing positively as far as Flick is concerned, with the German tactician set to sign a two-year contract with an option for a third.

Flick approves Guido Rodriguez’s signing

In fact, SPORT reports that Hansi Flick is already in agreement with Barcelona sporting director Deco over the club’s transfer plans and the areas that need strengthening.

Indeed, the former Bayern Munich manager is understood to have given his ‘OK’ for Barcelona to sign Guido Rodriguez from Real Betis in the summer.

The Argentine World Cup winner is believed to have already reached a verbal agreement to sign for the Blaugrana as a free agent when his contract with Real Betis expires in the summer.

However, the midfielder wanted for the managerial situation to be resolved and ascertain that whoever would replace Xavi still wanted him at the club before signing.

Now, it appears that Flick has given his blessing for Barcelona to go ahead with the signing of the South American pivot.

More signings sought

While Guido Rodriguez’s signing now appears to be as good as done, Barcelona will seek another quality pivot midfielder in the summer to ensure depth in the position.

Apart from that, a new left-winger will also be signed and even though targets have been identified, the final deals will depend on the club’s economic situation.
