Hansi Flick gives his approval to sign Deco’s preferred right-back for Barcelona | OneFootball

FC Barcelona are constantly working on operations that would allow them to strengthen the squad. After all, each new season brings along new challenges that must be matched. Fortunately for Barcelona, important figures at the club are already working on matching such challenges behind the scenes.

So far, as per several reports, one of the club’s primary goals is to strengthen the depth of the squad. To do that, several positions have been assessed across the board, and there seems to be a consensus within Barcelona about where reinforcements are needed.

One of those positions is reportedly the full-back role, where the Catalan giants believe some extra depth would really help out. For that reason, several names have been linked to the club in recent weeks, including La Liga full-back Andrei Ratiu as well.

However, Barcelona Director Deco seems to prefer a certain Monaco right-back more. Vanderson, aged 23 as of right now, is a Brazilian right-back who plays in Ligue 1 and has established himself as a first-team option for the Brazilian National team as well.

Reportedly, he is Deco’s preferred option when it comes to a new right-back for Barcelona. Now, however, it seems that the club Director is not the only key figure at Barça who is on board with this idea.

As per SPORT, even Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has given his approval regarding Vanderson’s arrival. Having assessed the player and the qualities that he brings, the coach seems to now be on board with the idea of signing him.

A physically reliable player, Vanderson provides a lot of energy while attacking but also has intensity in his defensive commitments. He has already proven his quality throughout this season, but he also has undeniable versatility as well.

That was showcased well enough this season in the UEFA Champions League when Barcelona faced off against Monaco. To deal with Lamine Yamal’s threat, the Ligue 1 side decided to field Vanderson out of his normal position and as a left-back to deal with the Spanish winger, and he managed to put up a great display in that role.

Moving forward, there is still some uncertainty over just how much financial leverage Barcelona would have in the summer. With other positions also being considered, especially the prospect of potentially signing a new center-forward, there is still time before Barcelona makes a final decision regarding most matters such as this.

However, the report does claim that Barcelona have already added Vanderson to their short-list. He is seen as the ideal full-back to fit in this Barça team, and his profile is one that Hansi Flick seems to really appreciate.
