There is simply no room for respite at FC Barcelona as their next challenge now presents itself. An away game in La Liga against Leganes beckons, and La Blaugrana must tend to it with their utmost attention. For Barcelona, every single competition is a priority right now.
After dismantling Borussia Dortmund in the first-leg of their quarterfinal tie in the UEFA Champions League, Barça must now turn their attention towards La Liga again. Still at the top of the table, Hansi Flick’s men will want to extend that lead.
However, this time around, Barcelona will be playing against Leganes before both Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid play their fixtures. It is an opportunity for the Catalan giants to get a win and apply some extra pressure on their opponents when they play their respective games.
For that reason, as highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, Hansi Flick is considering a repeat of his starting eleven that played against Borussia Dortmund. The German coach is giving a lot of priority right now to La Liga, and that is the only thing on his mind currently.
He wants to use this game as a big step forward, and he reportedly considers it a crucial game in the context of what it could mean for the season. Despite having a four-point lead right now in the league, Flick wants to make sure that lead is retained and also improved upon.
If that does end up being the case and Barça repeats the same starting eleven, it would require the players to be fully energetic, at least. In goal, Wojciech Szczesny will likely start in that case, and he will be accompanied by the likes of Inigo Martinez, Pau Cubarsi, Alejandro Balde, and Jules Kounde in defense.
Over in the midfield, Pedri and Frenkie de Jong seem to be the ideal pairing for Hansi Flick’s system. They will likely be accompanied by either Gavi or Fermin Lopez, with the latter having had a solid outing against Dortmund in his previous appearance.
As for the forward, the likes of Raphinha, Lamine Yamal, and Robert Lewandowski should be raring to go. All three found the back of the net against Borussia Dortmund, and this should be a chance for them to continue that fine form and inflict damage on Leganes.
Interestingly, this game also presents a chance for the Catalan giants to get some revenge against Leganes. They beat Barcelona last time out at the Montjuic Stadium, and La Blaugrana would have to do well to take away three points this time around.
As for the second-leg fixture against Borussia Dortmund, Flick will likely make some rotations there. While he will still look to field a strong starting eleven, it might have a few tweaks here and there.
