Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has confirmed that a long-time member of the club’s absentee list is set to mark his return to matchday duties this weekend.
The player in question? Andreas Christensen.
Defender Christensen, for his part, has not taken to the pitch since all the way back in August.
As much comes owing to a long-standing Achilles issue, which ultimately forced the Danish international under the knife.
Recent weeks saw Christensen at last make significant strides in his recovery, first spotted back on the grass in individual training, before playing a full role in group activities.
And, as alluded to above, such improvement is set to give rise to an imminent return to competitive duties for the former Chelsea man.
Drawn on Christensen’s wellbeing during his pre-Real Betis press conference on Tuesday, Hansi Flick confirmed:
“Christensen will be back on Saturday. He will be available for the Getafe match.”
