According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, Hansi Flick is gearing up to shape his Barcelona team much like his successful Bayern Munich squad.

It must be noted that Flick’s Bayern Munich achieved a historic sextuple by adding the Club World Cup alongside the Champions League, Bundesliga, German Cup, German Super Cup, and European Super Cup.

They maintained an impressive record of 58 wins, 5 draws, and 5 losses in 68 games and their success was built on a versatile 4-2-3-1 formation, characterised by two main elements.

Hansi Flick’s philosophy for Barcelona

The first element was a strong sense of group unity, bolstered by a core of players from the German football school.

The starting lineup that clinched the Champions League against PSG included six German internationals: Manuel Neuer, Joshua Kimmich, Jerome Boateng, Leon Goretzka, Serge Gnabry, and Thomas Muller.

Complementing them were three players who rose to prominence in the Bundesliga: David Alaba, Alphonso Davies, and Robert Lewandowski, who is now at Barcelona.

Thiago Alcantara and Kingsley Coman added a flair to the team, which played a daring and physically demanding style of football.

The second key element of Flick’s Bayern was their depth on the wings, which was crucial for providing support to Lewandowski. Gnabry and Coman, later joined by Leroy Sane, were instrumental in this regard.

Can Barcelona pull this off?

For what it is worth, Barcelona hope to recreate this dynamic with the likes of Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams, as both are young talents, aged 17 and 22 respectively, with great potential.

On the left wing, Barcelona aim to mimic Bayern’s strategy with players like Alejandro Balde, creating a parallel to Davies and Coman’s successful partnership, balancing attacking depth with defensive caution on the opposite side.

Barcelona also boast a strong homegrown core. Depending on the development of reserve team players, up to 12 players in the squad could be academy graduates, including stars like Pedri and Ronald Araujo.

Promising talents like Yamal, Pau Cubarsi, Fermin Lopez, Ansu Fati, and Eric Garcia are already making their mark.

Flick will also have experienced players familiar with the Bundesliga, such as Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, Ilkay Gundogan, Andreas Christensen, and potentially Joao Cancelo.
