HLN are reporting that Hannes Delcroix is set to sign for Burnley. The 24-year-old will be reunited with former Anderlecht head coach Vincent Kompany, who led the side back to the Premier League at the first time of asking. The defender, who can play centrally or at left-back, has only played seven minutes for Anderlecht this season. During the 2022/2023 campaign, Delcroix played 16 matches for the Mauves.
Since graduating from the Anderlecht academy in the summer of 2018, the defender has made 65 appearances for the Mauves, scoring twice. He spent the 2019/2020 season on loan at RKC Waalwijk in the Eredivisie. He started 23 games for the side, scoring once and providing one assist.
With his contract set to expire in 2024, and the fact that he is not currently a regular starter at the club, selling Delcroix makes sense for Anderlecht. After a disappointing opening day defeat to Union St Gilloise, Brian Riemer’s side have won their last two matches. This included a 1-0 win over defending champions Antwerp at home, before a victory over an impressive Sint-Truiden side.
