Borussia Dortmund's women's handball team is just two points away from claiming the runner-up spot. And the Black & Yellows want to collect these two points on Saturday at 19:00 CET when they visit Buchholz-Rosengarten.
Two more weeks and Borussia Dortmund's women's handball team will have completed an exhausting and successful season. "We are still two points of claiming the runners-up spot. We want to achieve that on Saturday," demanded André Fuhr.
Three games are still to be played before the final match day on 21 May at Thüringer HC. After their trip to Buchholz-Rosengarten, last but one in the table, comes another away game at Bayer Leverkusen (11 May), then three days later the final home game of the season on 14 May against Bad Wildungen.
"Of course, there is no question that we are clear favourites against Buchholz-Rosengarten. But the opponent still needs every point in their fight to avoid relegation. They will try to make life difficult for us, to impose their combative game on us. They sit very deep and have good circle running game," Fuhr warned his players not to take the opponent lightly.
Especially as the Black and Yellows have also had problems scoring from the back. "We need simple goals again," demanded Fuhr, who has reduced the amount of training somewhat after the postponed game in Halle-Neustadt - but is calling for renewed concentration and focus on the remaining four games for the final spurt of the season.
The last few results show that Buchholz-Rosengarten is quite capable of causing a surprise. "Except against Buxtehude, their games were not bad at all, against Zwickau they won by a ten-goal difference. And against Blomberg-Lippe on Wednesday they only lost with a three-goal difference. We have to be careful and not let the game slip away from us," said Fuhr.
After the injury-related absence of Madita Kohorst, who tore her cruciate ligament in Saturday's game against Bietigheim, Clara Woltering will not be travelling to northern Germany as the second goalkeeper: Alongside the Dutch national team player Yara ten Holte, Yan Li Stannies, goalkeeper of the second team, will sit on the bench as a substitute against Buchholz-Rosengarten.
