L’Équipe are reporting that Han-Noah Massengo (22) has rejected an approach from Burnley. The France U21 international is a free agent following the expiry of his contract at Bristol City.
Massengo is in search of a new club, but he won’t be joining newly-promoted Premier League side Burnley. According to L’Équipe, the Frenchman turned down the offer to join Vincent Kompany’s side. Whilst Massengo does want to play in the Premier League, he wants to be able to play a considerable role. This wasn’t necessarily going to be the case at Burnley, where a starting spot was not guaranteed.
The former Bristol City midfielder had a successful loan spell at AJ Auxerre in the second half of last season. The Frenchman, who has two caps for the U21 side, enhanced his reputation during his return to Ligue 1, but he couldn’t save Auxerre from relegation. Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano linked Massengo with a return to formative club AS Monaco earlier in the summer.
