Liverpool have been handed a huge blow early on in the Premier League season on Monday night.

According to a new report from The Athletic, midfielder Thiago Alcântara is set to miss up to six weeks of action.

The Spain international was forced off with a hamstring issue during the season opener against Fulham on Saturday.

He is now expected to miss upcoming Premier League matches against Crystal Palace, Manchester United, Bournemouth, Newcastle, Everton and Wolves.

That is in addition to potentially two Champions League fixtures.

It will be a huge loss for Jürgen Klopp with the club’s injury list growing at a significant rate.
