Hamburg are facing relegation from the Bundesliga for the first time in history on Saturday.
The self-proclaimed ‘dinosaurs’ of the Bundesliga must win to have any chance of reaching the Bundesliga play-off but even then they will be relying on results elsewhere to keep their season alive.
Inside the club’s Volksparkstadion is a clock marking their remarkable feat of being the only club to play in Germany’s top flight since its creation back in 1962.
With the Bundesliga giants facing relegation, many have asked what would happen to the clock should they go down and a decision has now been made.
If they are relegated this weekend, Hamburg’s clock will remain but change to 130 years, seven months, three days to mark the time since the club was formed.
So, the clock won’t be gone after all.
